This is just to announce that the forum has now been upgraded to PHPBB 2.0.8.

With this update some changse have taken place. First, the read tracking system is completely different now. Before all of your unread posts were stored in a MySQL database on the ozzu server. Due to the large increase in members at ozzu this database was growing to exponential sizes causing poor performance on ozzu at times. We have now changed the read tracking system so that it stores much of this data in cookies on your own computers which should improve the performance dramatically at ozzu since we are now able to drop that read tracking database.

Also with this update we have removed some of the features that members may have become used to. We removed the:

lottery
games
point system

We felt that these three things really did not help improve the quality of posts at ozzu and if anything may have made things worse because it gives members the incentives to make quick, poor quality post just to obtain points to play the lottery or games.

Other than this there were many other small changes which I will not go into details on.

Please respond to this thread if you find any problems, errors, or something not performing correctly. Thanks.

I didn't PM b_heyer, but I can confirm that I had 2 PM's in my inbox when I came on and no pop-up notification. There may be a glitch.

I never even clicked the link to find out what games were there. To this day, I have no idea what games there were or who was playing them. I think the initial idea was perhaps to provide a distraction for visitors waiting for a response to their question, but it evolved into something that is not what is needed. So let it be written, so let it be gone.

Is it just me or is the offline/online status thing a little screwed up? I was just responding to a post by someone and noticed on the topic page that it said he was offline, but when I went back to the forum index, he was listed as online in the user list at the bottom

When I click the user names in the registered users currently online list it tells me everybody is offline except myself.
