so i was looking around on some mac forums, and there was a post asking about someone trying to install OS X on a pc, and the mod of the forum replied and stated that trying to install the Apple OS on non-Apple hardware was a violation of their software license agreement, but i was looking over the agreement a little and didn't see anywhere where it stated this. so, is it true?

Well, it's not a crime, it's just a violation of the license agreement.

Hey, why do people think that Apple doen't make a PC, I have 4 PC's 2 of them are Macs using OS 9.2 OS, one is an E machine using Windows XP OS and the other is a Mac using OSX OS, but they are all Personal Computers.

Oy. Not that this has anything to do with anything, but it's called shorthand. It's a convention now that gives everyone a paradigm within which to think, converse, make references. Everyone knows they're all personal computers, but just as PC is much shorter than "IBM-PC Compatible," so too "Mac" and "PC" are a convenient way to differentiate between platforms since they're shorter than "my personal computer running OS X Tiger 10.4.8" and "my personal computer running Windows Vista Release Candidate 2."

Sorry I started this, my message wasn't for the Professor, it was for the students, I also didn't think it was 'common knowledge', my first PC was a TRS80, just wanted the recent PC users to know that a Mac is a PC!

I'm fairly certain its not illegal but why?! Your going to envounter a lot of driver problems b/c the hardware may not work properly with the OS and thus you will probably have to practicaly write your own drivers.

And and and.. Afaik, Apple is submitting Leopard to The Open Group for Unix certification. If awarded, it will no longer be "based on." =)

the mac forums give a damn as if you even mention a pc and OSX they wont give any help/support to you whatsoever. i tried installing it on my pc and i think the problem is that i need a usb keyboard because it wasn't detecting my logitech ps/2. at all. even a little. but it had no problems with my usb mouse. but i dont want to buy a keyboard when i'm not sure its the problem
