I have been following Linux on the iPhone for a while, and the iDroid project forums had some discussions on putting a linux boot kernel, openiboot, and then putting android port on top without removing the iphone os, giving you the ability to switch which OS your phone uses.

Today the main contributor to this project went public with instructions on pcmag.

I have already done this using the iPHODROID mac program that automates much of the process, and while it works, there is some way to go before it is smooth and useful.
It asks for my sim pin to unlock, I guess I will see if AT&T will give it up.
But as of now, I am on the wifi network, and messing with settings seeing what doesn't work.

But as any project it will improve. The openiboot is sweet, any time you boot your phone, it asks which OS to boot into.

I'll be interested to see if AT&T gives up that unlock code
