OK, let's see if we can find out the address of your router:

Go to your Start Menu and click "Run..."
Type in "cmd" without the quotes and press enter.

At the command prompt, type "ipconfig" without the quotes.

This will bring up some information about your connection. The IP address given for "Default Gateway" is usually the IP of your router in a basic home network setup. Try that address in your web browser and let me know if it worked or not.

Oh whoops

My mind is gone today.

Open the Terminal application and type
Code: [ Select ]
ifconfig | grep "inet "

This should show you your IP address. The one you want to use is whatever your IP is, but replace the last series of digits with 1.

Ah, there we go.

Try navigating to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.0

Did it ask you for a username/password, or did you get right in?

Excellent. What brand of router is it?

Anyways, you'll want to find the area where it lets you do Port Forwarding. You need to find out what port Adium uses for MSN and make sure that that port is forwarded to your computer's IP address.

When I get home tonight I can help you with this if you need it. I don't have my PowerBook handy right now so I can't walk you through this part.

I don't get out of work for another hour, and then I have a lot to do tonight, so it might not be for 4 or 5 hours.

We'll pick up tomorrow if I can't get to it tonight.

I believe the port you'll want to forward is 1863. I think the Belkin configuration might call the setting "Virtual Servers" instead of port forwarding.

This screenshot might help, assuming you're using the same router firmware...

No, that picture will not help. It's a 403 Forbidden
