My Imac 21" had 4 x 2gb ram sticks from factory. I ordered and installed 4 x4 gb ram sticks that are apple certified and when i turn on computer there is only loud beeping, nothing on screen, is this faulty ram or do i need to have a software disc to start?

Double check to make sure all of the RAM is seated correctly in their respective slots.

Yes I pulled them all out again and reseated them, the next thing I was thinking of doing was to put 2 old ones back in along with 2 new ones, see if that maybe starts them working.

I removed the new ones one at a time and after removing two the computer started up, so i put back in the first one removed and am running on 3 x 4gb, one was defective, now to explain that to the store and see if i can get 1 4gb to match.

Can't see why they wouldn't take it back as long as your in the return period.

Bad ram is such a pain to figure out.
