Is this a virus? HELP

its been a while since ive been having a problem with my windows live msn, i cant put display images, add custom emoticons, send winks or put backgrounds in conversation, when y try to put a display image it says the image is not valid, and there's not any the default pics that windows live has, i dont know if it is a virus but i have re formated my computer and tried different anti virus and nothing, its something that automatically takes the check mark out of the "show display pictures and allow other to see it" box, ive tried cc cleaner, msn cleaner and multiple things, is this a virus or what???

NOTE: dont tell me to uninstall msn and install it again, ive tried too.

did you check the system for viruses?
