My guess is that the FIN or RST packet never reached the server or other client.

Did she log in from another machine and not log out? Maybe she should change her password if she thinks someone else has it.

her laptop is always turned off and locked when she isn't home and she doesn't use any other computers.

I thought maybe it was a bug on my end.

She is trying to remember what password she used. And she doesnt know where to change it.

Ask a third person if her name is shown during those times of inactivity. I have to ask someone who uses MSN messenger where to change the password.

I think you change the password in the same place as the e-mail password, in the options area. At least that's where I go, if not sorry i'm not more help.
