Howdy!

It's time for the next found of this newly started competition. SB was the last comp's winner and his topic of choice is set to SPRING.

Rules: This is strictly a digital art contest! Only one submission per user will be allowed.

You MUST have made the image yourself.

Max size dimension: 640px (including border)
Max file size: 150kb
File name: Please name your entry the same as your username (or as close to as possible)
(Please ensure your entry meets the above before entering your image)

The winner needs to PM me the topic for the next competition (please try to think up topics while voting goes on, in case you win).

What's the rules regarding including other people's work? If I remember correctly from the "create-a-composition" competitions, all images that weren't created by you personally had to be from a stock site, or free for personal use etc. Do we have similar rules for these types of comp?

Hrmm SB though it's a great entry, I see that more deemed as a photo entry with text. This is a digi art entry, I think we'd want users to create everything FROM SCRATCH or completely edit a stock image.

Yea don't use unauthorized images. Either they have to be taken by you or from a stock gallery.

Here's mine. I just call it "Spring Thaw".
I rendered it with Terragen at 3200 x 2400 and added the lens flair in PS.

Yes...i knew that was wrong. I will scrap that and work on something else. The more i look at it the worse it gets so its just as well you picked a flaw.

Correct. Terragen is a landscape generating program. You start by generating a terrain and add a surface map (which simulates the ground cover). Then you can add or control features such as water, atmosphere, clouds, camera position, target position and zoom, and a whole bunch of other goodies. It took about a half hour to get a landscape that I thought was interesting. I actually "over smoothed it" on purpose which is why the sides of the mountain are overexageratedly smooth. You don't normally find that in nature and I thought it was an interesting effect. Then the render took about 4 hours to produce the final image.
