I've been wanting to do something with this one for a bit. I still like it (mostly because I created it from scratch), Here's the pic:

Image

and the URL (to make it easier this time):
http://atnopro.com/contest/newAlaskaPortal.jpg

The background "Alaskan" scene was generated with a landscape generating proggy called Terragen (the download can be located here: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/)

The spheres were created by reversing the camera angle and saving the mirror image. I created the sphere's in Photoshop by cropping the image and then adding transparency. Originally this was done to create a web page. The sphere's were rollover links. To create the competition image, I edited the original web page to remove extraneous stuff and took a screen capture and saved as a jpg in MS Paint. I cropped the capture for the final image. Playing around with the aliasing on the sphere's to blend with the background image was the hardest part. It's still not 100% perfect, but I still like it anyway. Hope y'all do too.

Well, heres my effort. its similar to another design ive had..
but hmm, i really like this one, and im going to use it for a website, to me it looks kind of 'techno' (well.. ya know lol) and thas what i like. lol.
the design is similar to a site i have. ]
But.. because its similar, that only means that its my own style, because ive never seen any pics like this, or websites built around one like that, so once ive found a good style, i tend to do a few others based on it, which is why you see my circles alot ;) cause i jus love em. lol

Gotta echo your thoughts - I like yours too! Very nice!

re: Terragen, it's a fairly easy proggy to learn, but hard to master.

For those who didn't download it, the program random generates an editable terrain. Then you can modify the surface map for land characteristics; water, atmosphere, lighting, camera angles - just about everything. Plugins are available as well. It's a neat little package.

At this point there doesn't seem to be any limitations on the number of submissions. Perhaps that's a point that can be refined for future comps. But for now, why not submit both. They are both good.
