Howdy!

The theme has been set to : Black & White

Rules: This is strictly a photography contest! No photochopping, but contrast, brightness, levels and other minor touch-ups (healing tool will be allowed for film and print scans). Please avoid any text on the photograph, except at most a copyright statement, remember distractions like text can take away from the composition. Digital and film photography are both allowed. Only one submission per user will be allowed.

You MUST have taken the image yourself.

Max size dimension: 640px (including border)
Max file size: 150kb
File name: Please name your entry the same as your username (or as close to as possible if your username has characters that are not allowed in file names)
(Please ensure your entry meets the above before entering your image)

The theme is set to b&w but don't think it has to be a photo in b&w, it could be objects in those colours as well. Use your imagination!

Length: Competition closes Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 2:00 PM EST.

Voting lasts five days after close of competition.

The winner needs to PM me the topic for the next competition (please try to think up topics while voting goes on, in case you win).

Cool. I finally get to use one of my favorite pics. This was from a few years ago, but it's an original I took at the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I've actually decided to enter another pic instead.

This one I took on my Mobile Phone, its only been resized, no editting or anything, this is how it turned out.

I was standing right under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and I wanted to take a pic and the only camera I had was on my phone.

I kinda felt it met the requirements, So I entered it, if not just let me know :)..

Anything using Digital Image manipulation software to convert the graphic into Black and White is not allowed - so i believe. That would make it more of a Digital Art entry.

By all means, correct me if i am wrong.

No, just as long as the image is as it was when it was taken by the camera. The only times you should use Photoshop (or whatever) would be to create a border around the graphic or to put a copyright note (watermark etc etc) onto the graphic.

Technicaly, converting to B&W or greyscale is adjusting the levels.

Correct. You can use the b&w/sepia function of the camera and you can adjust for greyscale if the photo is color. Hard to find black and white film anymore anyways.

OMG I cant stand spiders! Someone once said to me, how come you are so scared of spiders, do you not realise you are like 1500 times bigger then IT is?

I just said, and whats the point?

Spiders with venom potent enough to kill somthing 1500 times bigger than themself, are kinda scary.

So are the ones that cause cellular deterioration (as in your skin & flesh, not your cellphone to any of you numbskulls reading this)

Is that a ceiling psuedofy ?

Out of curiosity flavah, how did you get that image? I am not implying you are breaking the rules, i just want to know what sort of levels you can go to define an image as black and white. That would appear to have been photographed in black and white, either that or it was amended.

I'm lost here. Help me out
