We do have internet, but the ISP has a monopoly so it is ridiculously expensive, I think it is $80 a month for 1.5M dsl. So at home we mooch off the wireless from the motel across the street, and at work it doesn't matter how much the internet costs because we have e-rate to pay for it.

Speaking of living in the boonies, I hit my first deer this morning on the way to work. I was passing a guy on the highway and it was dark, then all of a sudden he hit his breaks then BLAMMO! It was a small deer, and I only winged it, so the only damage to my jeep is a broken turn signal. The deer didn't come out as well, but it didn't suffer or anything. Now I believe it when all the people who have lived here for years and years say that nobody is truly a local until they've hit their first deer.
My water bottles froze as I rode, as did my beard. Beards sure keep you warm,
but can be socially embarrassing when you start to defrost mid conversation.

Have you ever noticed how the guy who has a deers head mounted to the grill of his truck never hits another deer after he mounted that head ?
Why yes, yes I am.

I don't quite have my wife convinced to eat deer meat yet, but we're getting close. She says she can't eat a deer because it use to be a living creature, so I counter her and say "So were cows and turkeys and salmon, and you eat them" and she almost always says "Yeah, but thats different..." We were at my uncles house on Saturday and his neighbor came by to have someone take a picture of him with this huge 20 or 25 pound turkey he had just shot, and my wife actually came outside and looked at the dead turkey, I was really surprised. Deer season for rifles starts the 25th, so we'll see if she tries venison or not.
