Yes bnw is permitted but no image editing. Read the rules. If you want to use bnw the whole image has to be bnw.

ok, so here's a question . . .

I have a camera that will allow me to turn the entire pic B&W except for one color (i.e. everything except the color green becomes B&W). this is done before you take the pic. so, technically it's not editing the photo. does that count?

just trying to be difficult, really . . .

allgoodpeople, that would be allowed. The mods just want to keep this a photo competition and not a photoshop competition. There are a few different types of photography that allow you to do interesting things like this to the photos (like IR...it is sweet), and they would all be acceptable IMO.

So nobody is confused or jumps the gun on my pic, it is not edited to make the sand pink like someone else thought already! We used some pink stained sand that was leftover from a design kit to do that with the sand...I wish we tried it when it was lighter so the flash didn't go!

allgoodpeople: not sure why you want to do that but I suppose its ok by me.

i don't want to do that (although if you ever see some examples, it does look pretty cool)

this is my first time...but i took this picture at a wine party with some friends. My camera allows me to adjust the colors so i just turn some of the blue and green down and got this...
