Tough one. Had at least a dozen that came to mind. This is the most recent from a few months ago so I'll use it.

yeah, I was torn between using the lilly or a couple really good snow pics I have. That's about the only time I like snow. When I can get a good pic like you have there. Then it can melt.

I know we are going to get a bunch of snow pitures but this is one that I really like from last winter. (i hope it posts correctly) As a SledHead, the word "White" only means one thing.

Only one entry per customer per competition (you can change it if you wish before the competition is over), and I love your picture btw. I don't recognize the flower. It looks like a lily but it's much smaller.

Looks like I'm going to have to go to the beach and take some sand shots to counter all this snow. :D

We don't have white sand here in Washington State so that wouldn't work for me. :(

Tannas, I don't even want to know what you were standing on to take that photo, because every time I look at that snowcap, I keep expecting it to break loose and your friends to go on an avalanche ride

Every time I don't have a camera, I need it. Yesterday me and my uncle were up high elk hunting in about a foot of snow, that was cool seeing elk in that. And then today I was down here in the valley deer hunting on my own and I saw an albino turkey. If I would have gotten a photo of that turkey that would have been my entry. *%$&##^*&@!!!

You're on a bit of an angle there. Maybe you should get a tripod.

Hmmm. alex89, I'm not sure if you're serious or joking.

If you're serious,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_angle

...as applied to still photography and coupled with the technique of rapid instinctual composition, it's an attempt to add intrerest, movement and drama to what would otherwise be a boring and perfunctory shot.

If you weren't serious...
What is this tripod you speak of?

In other words, that show was really stupid so they needed to use fancy camera work just to make it semi-interesting.

You're not off, you're spot on. I slammed the show because the caption under the picture on that wikipedia page was funny. Didn't you ever notice that those really cheasy tv shows and movies with poor acting and lousy special effects always use a lot of off kilter camera angles?

Whew! Okay.

...and yes, I have noticed that the technique can be way over used - especially as a matter of compensation.

Did a similar shot myself dM, if it was a white building then i would have submitted it as a competition entry...

If i hadn't taken that photo at the angle i did i would have probably never looked at this photo and appreciated it the way i do now. Looks more interesting with the angle rather than if it was a level shot.

Whenever I see a shot like that I turn my head on an angle and look at it as it would look normally. I think it's probably the engineer in me.

Although I'd agree, in these two the Dutch angle was a good choice, definitely adds interest.
