How about a CSS tournament?
Rules:
1. CSS only for actual page layout
2. Html acceptable for images, data display, bold, italics, etc.
Use of any scripting language is acceptable.
Cleanest code with most interesting css effects and excellent information output is the winner.
I don't have anything to offer as a prize, but it'd be fun and it'd pust all of our limits.
ps, sorry for posting the contest without permissions. I read the first post in this thread after the matter. my bad.

Uh, change rule #1.
CSS and tags with a display of block (ie div, p) only for page layout. Duh...

Any idea what the content should be, or just a layout. I think if you were to set up a non css'd page with content of some sort (even data about an exotic duck or something) and then have people lay it out using css to the best of their ability. That'd be cool.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Or else 'e plurum epsum blam' or whatever the heck it is that page design software always puts into templates.

LOL.

I'd say don't limit the content. Just one page --links can 404, but to get this:
with most interesting css effects
It might make for a more interesting competition to see what the designer thinks he/she can do, vs. being stuck to certain content.
On the other hand, we are given content by clients and have to work around that anyway -- so I suppose in the end, either way would be good.

I think we should have 5 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum and a set of button titles to make one page, any way we see fit. Maybe we could be allowed 1 piece of stock.

Oh -- crap...B_heyer -- you run this competition board -- I've told you before -- make the decision. Don't be hesitant in life -- If you have authority...make the decision, and the rest will follow. Not chastising you -- just offering advice everyone can learn by. You'll never be the president of your own company until you learn to make decisions (and as an aside -- a good president listens to the advice of others) -- then makes the decision based on what will profit the company the best. Get the idea?
