I was thinking that a drawing contest would be cool. I dont know if this is the same as the wallpaper one, but geuss it could be.
I was thinking that it would be cool to expand the "drawing" type competition a litt,e making different sub-catagories including colored pencil, just pencil, and then graphically enhanced images (such as photoshop etc.)
Its just an idea. If this is the wrong place to post, my bad.

and good charlette(sp?) plus many others.
Anyway, not sure if anyone has metioned this, but what about a contest like the seochellenge, but for only ozzu members. Not as high end as the seo chellenge, but see how good some of the local members are at this stuff. Just an Idea.

well duh you guys, you have to show a certificate of authentic punkness before a hairdresser will cut you a mohawk - it's the law
When Linkin Park came out, rock music was starting to get more credibility amongst the general populus, due to bands like blink 182 and Limp Bizkit. Rap music is always cool, so is dj-ing. Strangely a band suddenly comes out that mixes all of the coolest things in popular music and incorporates them all into their music. Nothing extreme from any of the genres to put other people off, just little bits and pieces from each.
They may not be a manufactured band, but their sound is manufactured,. and to me, that means pop and sell-out. It doesn't matter how you look or how you sing - if you are making music solely for the purposes of making money, then you are a pop act.
SEOchallenge is good idea, but we should ban some members

should encourage some SEO newbies, such as myself, to have a go? has anyone now bought a nigritude ultramarine domain yet lol?

Well that's kinda my point - they mixed styles together but they did it in a very calculated manner, picking all the things that will sell well. To me thats the very essence of pop - music "designed" to sell above all other considerations.
On the subject of mixing of musical styles really well, I say check out these two bands:
the older incubus albums (S.C.I.E.N.C.E in particular), mixing rock, metal, funk, jazz, african and aboriginal tribal music, drum and bass (and possibly some others I have missed) all on the one album.
Skindred - a little known "ragga-metal" band from wales. Probably one of the most original rock bands in the world. I'd advise anyone to hunt out a copy of babylon, preferably the UK version as the international is not quite so good.

Yeah, I agree
I used to enjoy listening to Linkin Park ( bought 2 of there albums) but then I got tired of the dull kinda just........ I dont know, mix of everything. I like Matallica now. And Cradle of Filth, although they are a little too heavy.

I say we play a game like survivor. You know make different teams. Have people do 2 challanges. then vote someone off. then do 2 more and then vote someone off.
and then 1 time a week do new recruting for it.

How about a competition that isn't art-based? Some of us aren't too hot with the old graphics and photography you know
I've seen complaints that not enough people get involved with the competitions, but it seems that you are shooting yourselves in the foot on that one by not varying the types of competition often enough.
Example? Look how many people got involved with the slogan competition. A competition that anyone can enter and have a shot at winning. The excellent artists and photographers here makes for a rather daunting prospect for us mere mortals when the majority of the competitions are art and photography.
I'm not suggesting anything in particular, but just some slightly different competitions that don't really fall into anyone's field of expertise, so everyone can have a go and has a decent chance of winning.
I know the winning isn't important, but it's no fun entering a competition if you know that other entrants are going to wipe the floor with you....

Here's an idea. Web design vs. graphics design for once.

Innovative, lightweight--yet effective design for the web. Something to that effect.
