I gave b_heyer a suggestion for the next photo competition when I won the last one...

I'm still waitin' for the next one to start, lol.

But there's been some big changes here at Ozzu... like gvs says, the points system is gone, but it was never about the points. It was all just about having fun :)

b_heyer will get a competition going again when he gets back :)

I'd participate if the competition were about something other than photography or graphics. That seems about the only thing anyone wants to compete about...

Well, I'm all for a competition on my genre of art. I'm up for a good challenge. I'd take it only as something to do, practice, and experience.

Well, I found some quotes from some of our beloved moderators:

truthfully, i don't think it fits into a webmaster's board

I'm wondering if it would be too far removed from the "Webmaster" concept to include such a category

To be honest, this is a webmaster forum, and I think some of the forum areas are getting a little too off-topic as it is

I have nothing against the graphics board or the photography comps, but IMO, the competitions board is a little bit removed from the "webmaster" concept, with it being so strongly focused on graphics and photography ;)

unfortunetly, there thave not been many non-graphic orriented suggestions of what to do.

also, most people prefer graphics comps as you can keep and use (look at, put it somewhere) the results

coding-scripting comp stuff CAN be reused, but it has to be adjusted and editied to work, you would also get alot of people handing in very simalar entries

I do however agree that we need more non-graphic comps

in retrospect to the "reward" question:

a fall of fame page would be a good idea, simalar layout to the http://www.ozzu.com/moderators.php page, only:
Code: [ Select ]
Comepition  |Winner    | Photo
           |          |
Photo #125  |IH8Purple  | :D
tennis # 32  |IH8Purple  | :P
etc....       |IH8Purple  | ;)
 1. Comepition  |Winner    | Photo
 2.            |          |
 3. Photo #125  |IH8Purple  | :D
 4. tennis # 32  |IH8Purple  | :P
 5. etc....       |IH8Purple  | ;)

Competition request: Most intricate geometric shape created using CSS.

Rules would be:
1. The document must be HTML 4.01 Strict or XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant - it must pass the validator at http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ (not validator.w3.org because that gives errors for things such as the server not sending a Content-Type header.)
2. Judging is to be done with an up-to-date Gecko rendering engine - up-to-date meaning the latest milestone release of Chimera, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Mozilla, or Galeon.
3. No elements except DIV, H1, and P are allowed in the BODY element.
4. Only one H1 and one P are allowed - as many DIVs may be used as desired. -- the H1 should contain the title of your work; the P should contain at least your name.
5. Polygons must be resizable with the user's font-size.
6. Judging will be by voting.

An example of the concept: http://www.tantek.com/CSS/Examples/polygons.html
