Make us laugh. Do something funny for our new Website Design competition!

Create a three (3) page website dedicated to "Humor".

Please create something new and fresh - practice your skills! ;)

Rules:

* Your entry MUST contain your username anywhere on each of the pages
* Webpage design is strictly HTML and CSS only (with images)
* CSS is allowed of course and can be in a seperate file
* Please place images and CSS (if seperate from the html) in the same folder. In other words, ONE FOLDER FOR EVERYTHING.

You MUST also, after posting your entry, PM me a link to a .zip or .rar file with the .html doc and images in the one folder so I can put them up on the server for the final votes (All work remains copyright of yourself). Alternatively if you are a premium member you can attach your .zip/.rar file using the attachment feature provided.

Only one submission per user will be allowed.

You MUST have created the website yourself.

Any questions please ask in the thread. :D

Resolution: Please create with 800x600 users in mind.
Max total file size (inc images): 500KB
(Please ensure your entry meets the above before entering your piece - Entries not meeting criteria will be notified by PM and given a couple of days to adjust it, but please get it right the first time) *poke*

Length: Competition closes on Sunday, May 31st 2009 at 10:00 PM EST. Voting will last five days after close of competition.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes! Since it's only HTML and CSS, it kinda levels the playing field against all those wiz programmers out there! It should be a very creative contest! I am gonna post this on the other forums I visit. I'm sure there are lots of people there who would be interested.

Also, to emphasize a question posed earlier... will there be a "prize"?

Well as I say on my sports forums, it's just for Boasting Rights. The accomplishment of winning a comp here goes a long way. You are on a playing field with some really talented folks. i.e. there is no real prize other than knowing you were voted the best. Kinda like American Idol... ummm wait they actually get a recording contract lol. At least it's not like Hell's Kitchen where you gotta deal with Chef Ramsay in your face.

They must have to sign some kind of contract saying they won't hit Gordon. I don't see how he has made it this far without getting his tail whupped. I couldn't imagine writing code with Gordon cussing while I'm typing.

Personally I like Gordon Ramsay. Not so much on Hell's Kitchen, but on the show where he works with restaurant owners. I'd love to have the job of the person who hits the BLEEP button.

Great competition, SB!

They don't bleep it here, not even on the US version.

Probably my favourite program on the TV at the moment. I just love seeing all the owners thinking they are so good when clearly they are not.

You've all got plenty of time to put something together. Hopefully you will all take part.

Good luck for those that do.

Hulu is only available for people based in the US.

Does anyone else here realise and appreciate the fact i spelt "Humor" like that instead of the way i was taught to spell it in school (Humour)?

I'm not going to be too American here. If Hulu would let me see the vid then i'll begin to realise how to spell properly

Actually, *I THINK* the one I was thinking of is on BBC America and it's UK restaurants. Thanks for posting the HULU link. Now I've got all kinds of Gordon Goodness to check out. :)

Why don't you do two versions? One on the competition rules, and the other just to show what you wanted to do with flash... even though it's not part of competition, it's showing off your skill ;)

You could try it, but they monitored the majority of web proxies and don't let their users use them to view their content.

When it says 3 pages is that a minimum or is that strict?

Competition Closed.

Slightly surprised at the lack of interest in this competition. Humor was such a general subject matter too.

As from now on because of the non-success on Digital Art and Web Design forum i am personally not going to be creating anything new for the foreseeable future.

Because it is now summer time in the northern hemisphere (where the majority of the site users are from) this has probably been another reason for the lack of interest. Who wants to code for fun when the sun is shining outside?

UPSGuy is the type of computer nerd that wears socks with his sandals to the beach where he sits under a big umbrella with his laptop listening to techno music.

I was interested in the topic and seriously wanted to make an entry, but I spent the last several weeks cleaning out a rental property from an evicted tenant instead.

On a realistic note, I think May and June are bad months for a lot of folks dealing with real life things. To name a few:

Kids finishing school, which also means:
graduations
proms
graduation parties
weddings

Not to mention:
the grass needs cut
I'm having a BBQ
the garden needs planted
the roses need pruned

And:
I'm taking a vacation

Were you spying on me while I was on vacation a few weeks ago? :) You forgot to include the giant white blob of sunscreen on my nose. Maybe you've been talking to my wife...

I don't think I got an email notification about this competition - unless it got caught up in the hundreds of spam/facebook ones. Shame I didn't read it until today.

If anyone is interested i could reintroduce this competition again. We can open it up for a few weeks and hopefully get a few entries.

It's nearly been a year since this competition was created, it is before May and maybe April is ideal for someone to knock together a 3 page website.

Who here is interested?

Let's get it started. I think I have a fresh spasm of clever funnyness rushing like a red sea at me. (If that made sense to any of you... it made sense to me... has biblical reference to those who don't get it).
