While the tutorials will certainly be helpful, and I will utilize them, they will not be specific to the template I will be using. Is there an instruction file for template 35839?

We do not have specific custom instructions for each template. Each type of template is made with certain guidelines so the Joomla tutorials will for the most part work for all of our Joomla templates.
