Just wondering if it is difficult to install this template? Do I just unzip and upload via ftp, then install in OSC admin?

Thank you!

Hi Jason,

Yes you would first unzip the package, then upload the contents of the osc folder to the root directory of your website. You would then goto your website and click Install and follow all of the steps.

If you already have osCommerce installed and just want to install the template only then you would follow this procedure:

1. Copy all the files from the root folder (excluding folders).
2. Copy /images folder
3. Open /includes folder and copy header.php, footer.php, column_left.php, column_right.php and application_top.php files
4. Copy /includes/boxes folder
5. Open /includes/classes folder and copy boxes.php file
6. Open /languages/english folder and copy /images folder
6. Open /languages/espanol folder and copy /images folder
6. Open /languages/german folder and copy /images folder
7. Open /includes/modules folder and copy product_listing.php and new_products.php files

In your template download e-mail that you receive after you purchase there will be links to numerous tutorials on how to install the template as well as further customizing the template.

Thank you Bigwebmaster, I appreciate the information! One more question:

I have installed several OSC 2.3.1 add-ons like Re-Captcha and Store Mode 1.3. Will installing this Template(34136) break those or any other addons?

Thank you!

Hi Jason,

It is possible that it would require you to make a few changes to make that part work correctly. It may just work fine too, but we do not test the templates with any additional modules, so we cannot guarantee that it will work correctly. If you do install this template and have problems with it and cannot figure out how to make your additional modules work correctly, we are also available at an additional charge if you need us ever to help make something work.

Hi Brian,

In your instructions, you mentioned that I need to upload all of the files from the root folder (excluding folders), but if I do that, it will overwrite several files which I have modified.

Do I actually need to upload ALL of the root files? Or are there only a few files (like stylesheet.css) that need to be uploaded to install the template?

Kind Regards,
Jason

Hi Jason,

Yes, you will most likely need to upload all of the files as I previously mentioned. If you made changes to the files that you want to keep, you may need to save those files on your computer and incorporate the changes on the new files for this template. osCommerce does not have a "templating" system which is why many of the core files need to be uploaded to have a theme change.

Usually the most basic files that need to be changed if you want to change a look of a default osCommerce template are:

includes/header.php
includes/footer.php
includes/column_left.php
includes/column_right.php
Stylesheet.css

So you are welcome to try and upload those first to see what happens, but I am thinking you may be missing some features of the template if you do not upload all of the files I mentioned to upload from my earlier post. Maybe try to upload all of the files except the ones in the root directory to see what happens, and if it is not functioning correctly you may need to still upload those too. Hope that helps you some.

You may want to back everything up before you start, including your old files and your MySQL database.

Then I guess I'll start experimenting! Thank you for the response, Brian!

Kind Regards,
Jason
