If you absolutely love the above design you might want to see more layouts brought forth with the assistance of our website designer Cowboy. Cowboy commonly brings forth Website Templates, Flash Templates, and WordPress Themes.
Cowboy's WordPress Theme 36009 is a part of the Sports, Last Added, Most Popular, and Wide categories so you will conceivably find more designs there that might work for your situation.
On the assumption that you don't actually need identical content but want a comparable style for how the layout was completed, we additionally group our templates by the design style and this particular wordpress theme belongs in the Neutral style types.
Finally we also arrange templates by keywords that are strikingly apparent when first viewing the template and this particular template is associated with basketball, tickets, hoop, fan, and score wordpress themes.
We know that we have many thousands of designs and it can be a daunting task to discover the right website template that would meet your needs. We do also offer a Template Search Tool which allows you to fine tune everything to zero in on the design that would meet your needs for game plan.

I am considering buying this wordpress theme, but it's very difficult to go ahead with the purchase without understanding what the back end will be like in Wordpress, and to what extent I can customise the design. The main things I want to be able to change are:
the colours of the drop-down menus on the right (I know a little css so can probably figure that out if the template can be edited)
CRUCIALLY - the logo on the left. Can I replace what is there with a logo of my own design?
Any/all help on this would be awesome.
Cheers,
F

You are welcome to customize the design as much as you want. The difficulty will vary depending on your skill level at working with web design including graphics, CSS, HTML etc, and your understanding of WordPress. To change the colors of the drop down menus on the right, it would require you to edit some CSS files in the template area of the WordPress backend. As far as the logo on the left, you can change that as well by editing the CSS or replacing
images/logo.png
with your own in the template directory inside the WordPress installation.
You are absolutely welcome to try to do all of this yourself, but if you feel overwhelmed you can have someone do it for you. When you click on the "Add to Cart" button above and then checkout, at some point during the checkout process you will see some options such as:
Implementing The Customer's Logo
Installation
Install Popular WordPress Plugins
So if you select that first option for the logo, someone will take your logo and replace it for you. If you are needing help with changing the drop down menu colors, and want someone to do that for you as well please let me know. That will require me to provide you a special link where you can explain all of the customizations you want and our template tuning team will provide you a quote from there.

I am sorry to hear that you are frustrated. I am curious if you have browsed all of our video and text tutorials already? By the way you are writing I am thinking either you have not found that section (the link is provided in your download e-mail), or you are unhappy with our tutorials that we provide.
Have you been able to install the template to get it to look like the demo above? Or are you struggling to just get to that point before you customize? Or, have you already done all that and you are currently just trying to customize the template further? I am not sure what stage you are at with your template, but would be happy to try and help you get going in the right direction if you can give us a chance.
Please provide us more details on if you are still trying to get everything setup, or if you are trying to customize, and if you have found and gone through our WordPress tutorials already. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.
I read the "Documentation" section which came with the template - it was useful for explaining how to embed videos and audio, but what I didn't understand from reading it is essentially how to develop the "Our Members" page at the back end of the site.
I also couldn't understand which template I am meant to use in order to create an "events" section which displays widgets on the right hand side of the page rather than on the left.
I have customised the colours to fit the theme, and have worked out a way of organising the "Practitioners" page using the Portfolio setting. However this now means I cannot create a separate gallery for Audio posts, since there seems to be no way of assigning portfolio pages to just one parent page. I have tried doing this using categories, and it doesn't work - all portfolio pages display on all portfolio parent pages, if you see what I mean. So it's not possible to keep audio portfolio pages separate from practitioner portfolio pages.
The main thing I don't understand is how the "Our Members" page works. There is a facility for adding "Our members" posts, but I cannot get a parent page to understand where to put the thumbnails for such pages. Also, I want to use "practitioners" not "members." Finally, although I have sub-headings, the top-level menu is not displaying them. I understand I will need to customise some images so that they fit with the colourscheme I have implemented, and this is no problem but at the moment seems pointless, since there is no drop-down menu displaying at all!
Any assistance you could provide would be most enlightening.
You can see the progress I've made here:

I am going to e-mail you a few links to make sure you have seen all of our tutorials first. In your template download e-mail there is a link to the resource of all of our text and video tutorials. I am guessing by what you wrote that you have only seen the documentation that came with the template itself.
You should receive that e-mail shortly, if you still need further help after that please continue posting here and I will see what I can do to answer some of your questions.

I hope you are doing well, and I hope some of those links I sent you helped. I had also sent this to our technical team awhile back and they finally were able to get back to me with more information. This is what they told me:
To create sub menus you should be using the menu manager.
To create Members page, please create some post under Our Members, then please add a page using Fullwidth page template and insert code the following code into the page (the text content you see there is lorem ipsum text, feel free to replace parts with your own):
<h1>About membership</h1>
Etiam tincidunt lorem ut diam pharetra adipiscing ultricies odio sagittis. <a href="#">Maecenas viverra</a> facilisis augue quis ultricies. In sed lorem diam. In hac habitasse platea dictumst.

Hopefully you also saw how to add a portfolio page in the tutorials I gave you, but am going to also put the instructions here just in case. Portfolio pages can be created with the help of page templates:
1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
2. Click the Pages tab on the right
3. On the next page, cick the Add New tab
4. Type in your page name, for example Portfolio page
5. Under the Page Attributes, select a Parent for your page
6. Select your page template ( Portfolio full or Portfolio in the Page Attributes drop-down menu)
7. Under the Custom Field tab, add a new field called category-include (or just select it under the Name drop-down menu)
8. category-include – name of the category that is displayed on this Portfolio page (available only for the Portfolio page template) You need to use the slug of the category here (go to Portfolio -> Portfolio Categories and copy the slug from the tab on the right)
9. With that done, click the Update button
10. To create a new Portfolio with a new Featured image and content, chose Portfolio -> Add New from the left-side menu
11. On the next page, enter your new page title and put your content
12. Under Portfolio categories on the left select the category or categories.
13. Under Featured Image, upload your image (click the Set featured image link)
14. And click the Update button
15. To add the new portfolio page to the menus, go to Apearance -> Menus. Under the Pages on the right, select the page and click on Add to menu, then click Save Menu.
I hope you have already figured some of this out, if not hopefully the above helps you further.

I am so happy to have some extra info to work with here, as it wasn't at all obvious to me how to get all those functions to happen by just working with the theme itself...

...you upload the images into the slide template and then they show up on the main page, as a slideshow, if that makes sense?
So in your posts section of wordpress, you have the ability to "create a new slide"? If you upload images via the media library and then make a slide with "img src="insert_image_URL_here.jpg" in the code somwehere; then your image should show up. Hope that helps.
Cheers,

Our tech team just got back to me and according to them there are two ways to go about it. The first way is to login via the WordPress admin area and then goto "Slider" and then slide #1 and then goto thumb URL and change it to your new location.
The second way according to them is to simply replace the default images that are located at:
/images/slider_img
The new photos that you would want, you would just upload over the ones there. So if you have the default settings right now then this would be located at the path:
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide01.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide02.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide03.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide04.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide05.jpg
So if you have a new photo simply name it as one of those, such as slide01.jpg and then upload it over the other one at that location and that should allow you to change it.
I hope this helps!
P.S. Thank you for helping as well Felicity!

a. I don't have 'slider'. Is this the plugin the basketball theme uses? It sounds like I'm missing some files. What is the exact name of the widget / plugin the Basketball them uses for the images rotation on the front page of the template?
b. There were no original images for me to replace when I obtained the template so I'm not sure where to replace the jpg files?
c. Felicity, thank you for the code. Do you know exactly where to place the code in the basketball template?
I'm sorry to be a pain with more questions but I really do appreciate you trying to help me out.

Do you have this online somewhere so that you can send us a link and so that we can take a look? Right now the way you have everything installed, does it look like the demo above? That is how it should look if you set everything up correctly before customizing it further. Thanks!

I took a look, and for some reason you have two "Slides" sections on the left hand side. I am not sure exactly what you guys did, but I will have one of our techs take a look further to see if there is anything they know that can fix it. You may need to start over and get the site setup exactly like the demo first so you can see how everything works, and then further customize from there.

No problem, please let us know how it goes. Make sure you follow our installation instructions and don't forget the step where you install the dump.sql file as that gets you to the demo state that you see above. Then from there you can see how everything works and you can just change settings and pictures to be the content you want to use.
If you have any problems finding the tutorial let me know and I would be happy to forward you the link.

I hope you had a chance to try and see if a re-install would work for you. The techs finally got back to me and they really think it is likely that the dump file was not installed the first time around which is why things may have not been looking like the demo. Make sure after you install everything you install the dump file that is in the sources zip file.
Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I'm also having problems with the slideshow.
In my ftp on the slider_img folder these photo's are there:
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide01.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide02.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide03.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide04.jpg
theme1365/images/slider_img/slide05.jpg
But they don't show up on any of my pages. Is there something I need to do on the admin side to turn these on?
On the admin I don't see any default slide. I created a new slide and named it Slideshow. What is the next step?
Thanks in advance.

I just sent you an e-mail with a few links and tutorials which will help walk you through setting up your template and importing the dump SQL files. Once you follow the tutorials that will get everything setup to look exactly like you see in our demo. After that point is where I recommend you start customizing things and changing content to meet your needs. Please let us know if the links help you. Thanks!

I did the install and uploaded the files to my ftp.
But I'm getting this error page saying:
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
Can you please let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I could be wrong as this is a guess as some of our templates are like this. But sometimes in the admin panel on the left hand side there will be a "Gallery" link and everything is under that. I am fairly certain that the images themselves end up getting stored in the Media Gallery - you can click on "Media" on the left hand panel in the admin area to see that as well.
Let me know if that helps at all, or if you do not see that area. If you don't see that I can see what a tech will say about this. Please let me know. Thanks!

I have edited the following files:
page.php
sidebar-init.php
sidebar.php
register-widgets.php
options.php
as all of these files define the position for the widget area as being on the left, when I want it to be on the right.
I have inserted this code everywhere, to no avail, the widget area still shows up on the left.
This is especially annoying because in the demo theme, it is shown on the right.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you for looking into this for me.
I did a massive session at the weekend on the website, and realised that I had not done the vital mysql database-dump. This was what was giving me all the problems. I have now done the mysql database import (through php myadmin) which I hadn't previously done; I thought it was an alternative to installing the theme through wordpress, rather than an essential extra step.
The problems I reported above have been solved by this.
Thanks again for looking into it with the techs, and for all your patience with my questions,

Unfortunately I have no idea what template number you are referring to. Template 1355 on our website is a Logotype template, doesn't sound like the one you are mentioning. This thread is for template 36009 also. Could you find the template you are referring to on our website and comment there so I know exactly which one you are talking about and so that I can help you. Thanks!

I just have one remaining question about this template - and thank you for all your help with this - it's been amazing. It can be so frustrating trying to figure things out!
My last question is this:
If I want to simply insert a large photo into a portfolio page - not linking it to the lightbox facility or anything, just displaying it in the page as a massive big photo - how can I maintain the aspect ratio and size of the image?
I ask because I have been putting images that are 1024 x 1024 pixels into such posts (for maximum screen-size display) and they have been displaying strangely on the portfolio pages - with the aspect ratios all messed up. The images are generally stretching vertically but not horizontally.
I can find nothing in the code to fix this problem - would you mind investigating why this is so and whether or not it can be changed?

Sorry for the delay, I needed to wait for a response from someone who could help with your question.
To disable the light-box, you need to delete/not to add the light-box custom field to your portfolio item. The sizes of the images can be changed in "themes\theme#\includes\theme-init.php" file. Once you have changed the resolution of the image there, you will need to re-upload it.
Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

I see no reason why you could not use Google Fonts on your template. As far as it being easy, unfortunately that is a relative and dependent on the person. So for one person it could be super easy, but for someone else it might be much more difficult. It will depend on how much technical skills you have with working with HTML, CSS, and web design, and understanding how WordPress works so that you know how to update any files you need.
I will e-mail you shortly our documentation.
Best Regards,
Brian Wozeniak
