3ds max splines help

hey!
i need help with splines .... the problem is that i made an Spline cage. and then converted it into surface and then into editable poly but now the problem is i cant use the cut tool on it ... i mean i can use cut tool but only at the main boudaries ... if i try to click inside the cage i cant use it.....
i had attached the image have a look at it and u will understand it better....
