very nice shots. image quality is superb! you enjoying that
new camera, or what? :P

I need to replace mine for something a little nicer, but I don't
want to break the budget in the process. that's a d100?

Axe -- that Snowy Egret is outstanding! Excellent captures on both of those.

Yup, that's with the D100, and I've picked up a few tricks since then that could've gotten me an even better shot than those, but more chances will turn up - Especially as a get some nice longer lenses :D

Thanks ATNO. The second one was actually with a manual focus lens, and was a pain in the butt to get. The viewfinder on the D100 is much smaller than on my N90s, so it's much harder to see when you've got razor sharp focus on a manual lens.

Snowy Egret is an awsome picture, the 'Bird X' one is ok, I personally don;t like the people in the background, but the focus does a good job of hiding them from inital veiw

To your point IH8Purple -- I completely missed seeing the "human" legs in the background, probably because of the focus. It makes "whatever bird that is" stand out more. Nice pickup.

Turns out it's a Lesser Blue Heron (or at least that's the closest we've figured out so far, lol - or possibly a "Tricoloured Heron", although I'm leaning towards LBH myself).

Yeah, it was tough to get the shots without the people given the position of the sun. He didn't shift over to the other side of the path til way later on, by which time the sun had disappeared, but he was just stood there watching the people go by... Maybe this would've been a better entry for the "Pedestrians" photo competition? hehe
