So, the new lens got here last week (Nikon 300mm f/4D ED-IF AF-S), and had a chance to have a lil bit of play with it on Saturday evening at a friend's house.

It's REAL sharp.

Image
1/1000th @ f/4, ISO400, distance around 80-100ft. Handheld shot (didn't have the tripod with me).

Image
1/1000th @ f/5.6, ISO400, distance around 40ft. Handheld shot.

Even at 100%, that second image is amazingly sharp.

Here's a link to the full size image (Warning, it's BIG - 2.8Meg).

Hopefully I'll be able to get down to Myakka soon and give it a real good workout :)

Having good glass REALLY makes a world of difference.

I'm going to do some test shots comparing this lens @ f/8 to my 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 set at 300mm f/8 to show the difference between a ~$250 lens and a ~$1100 lens.
