John, number 2 is probably one of the finest photos I've ever seen. Copyright it and don't give it up. That one is outstanding.

With a camera, a lens that was way too short, and a big pair

Like I said, I got to about 24-36" away from the head for some of those photos, because I only had an 80mm lens. When I get the 75-300, I'll be able to get some super close-up shots from a bit further away ;)

No problem, you're right, they're absolutely gorgeous animals. Maybe putting more photos of them out there will make people respect them a little more. :)

It's good, but I can get better :)

You know what would be really cool? If you could rig up a small panaramic camera to strap to the back of whatever she eats, of course removing it once she has her mouth full

lol, I'm sorry Keri, I didn't see what they'd said to you until just now...

Don't feel bad, ignore that bad man *snicker* ;)

Yes, this is a captive animal. A friend of mine had, up until recently, a pretty extensive collection of venomous snakes. A dozen different species of rattlers, at least 15 different species of cobras, and mostly at least 2 or 3 specimens of each species.

He's moving to California in umm... 6 days, so he has recently gotten rid of his entire collection. The girl in these photos was the last to go. She just went to her new home on Sunday evening.

So, now my access to hots is restricted to what I may see whilst out in the field, and I won't always have my camera with me, although I am trying to find other hots keepers in the area to get some more venomous photos - especially the cobras as they're not native to North America, so something you don't see very often - at least, not without them being behind glass (which just ruins the photo for me 99% of the time).
