I recently installed Fireworks 8 on my Windows XP.

Everytime I export a file it also creates a really annoying thumb.db file.

I have searched eveywhere to find out how to turn this off but no joy. Has anyone else solved this problem.

Thanks

Tim

It's not Fireworks that's doing it, it's Windows.

thumbs.db is Windows caching thumbnails of pictures in that folder that have been viewed so that it doesn't have to generate thumbnails every single time the folder is opened or the scroll position changed.

If you really want to create more work for your computer for the sake of ridding yourself of seeing thumbs.db, do this.

Quote:
1. Click on "CONTROL PANEL" from the Start Menu.
2. Click on "FOLDER OPTIONS" in the Control Panel.
3. Click the view tab
4. Finally - tick the "DO NOT CACHE THUMBNAILS" box and then click APPLY.

You could also just make hidden & system files invisible again instead.

Thanks joebert

I wouldnt mind it usually but I upload loads of folders to the net full of pics. A bit of php displays these pics in a web page but it keeps displaying the thumbs.db as a blank image unless i delete it from the folder before upload.

Followed your instruction above, sorted, nice one.
