whenever i design a logo or design, im always stuck on the fonts. So many to choose from...

What would be suitable for a professional company logo? Times new roman?

And

What about just a normal website? Verdana?

For a normal website, I suggest Verdana. As for professional company logos, Iam not sure. Depends on the company.
(e.a. For a water company, you wouldn't use a gothic font, just not right) :p

yeah, I usually go to a free font site and browse till I find one that fits my theme. I get a lot of cool fonts that way

There are some fantasic font sites out there you can use on a logo. Don't forget to check if they are free for commercial use, if not purchase a licence.

As for standard fonts for your company text (font for writing letters and brochures etc etc on) My favourite for clients is Gill Sans, you need to purchase a licence for the range though.
