As you can see my logo does not look good with a black background because the white around it is not transparent. If someone could make the white transparent it would be a great help to me. MY image editor does not have that ability.

Image

The reason I need this done is because my page allows visitors to customize the colour scheme for their homepage with any colours they want. Thanks in advance.

What program are you using?

Regarless, try GIMP. It's free and can do transparencies

I tried to get it. I downloaded the version for windows but it didnt put any icons on my desktop. On the start menu the only thing I could do was select a language from a list which had tons of languages but not English. I set it to default and clicked ok and nothign happened. I couldnt figure out what to run to open anything.

My editor I use currently is paint.

Did you download the automated installer for Windows?
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Should be a no brainer. Here's the instructions. Start with section 2

With respect, transparency may not be the only reason that logo doesn't look good. I suggest avoiding Comic Sans; it is widely recognised as being the most inappropriately over-used font in history.

So even in white it looks bad. What font should I use then? I want a sort of neutral looking font. What font is google in?

Catul. Funnily enough, I used Google to find out.

As for neutral fonts, Myriad and Gill Sans (Humanist 521) are professional sans serif faces.

...And back to google, fonts or free fonts. You should have no problem finding it. ALL FONTS ARE FREE, AREN'T THEY? I 'VE NEVER PAID FOR ONE.

You probably won't find those exact fonts for free (or, at least, you shouldn't) but you should be able to find something suitable for free.

You're the only one who has expressed dislike to my logo. And you are the only driving force to me changing it. If I cannot find a free font suitable for it easily and in less than an hour it probably isnt worth it to the few people who hate comic sans.

Comic sans is a font that doesnt look too formal and is easily readable so it works. I need something that looks good with all background colours. And redoing my logo is hard work.

You will find yourself banging your head off a wall trying to make one transparent logo that works good on all background colors. For example, I see you got your transparency working on the original image in your first post here, but I can tell you made it for a light colored background by the aliasing around the edges. If you were to have made it to be transparent on a dark background, then you would have a similar problem on lighter backgrounds. The easiest alternative is make one for light backgrounds and one for dark backgrounds. Then give people the choice of which one they want to use.

Have to agree with Impel, those are two great fonts. I also like bell gothic.

Instead of an oval I would go for a square or two squares staggered.

You will always run into jaggies. If you are doing both of these:
1. Using the exact same image on various sites.
2. Using rounded & aliased edges

To avoid the issue make one image with a black matte, one with a grey, and one with a white. The matte will take care of getting the edges close to dark, medium, or light. And the transparency will still exist.

I'm in full agreement that using comic sans is not very creative. There are dozens of free fonts on the net. try atomicfonts.com for example.

Good luck.
