I am trying to figure out how to make something look scratched up (a website background) but I can't seem to get it looking like I want. Here is an example: http://www.thespot.nu

I like the white scratches on the black bg....just like there is on that site. Is there a set of brushes or a technique you'd recommend for this?

Thanks!

hey man i am not sure of a brush set or anything but have your thought of maybe scratching something and then scanning it in. Thats what i would do i think it would be easier and more realistic.

Well what you do is draw your image in black onto a white background. Then go to Filter>BrushStrokes>Angled Strokes and click OK. Then Press Ctrl+I to invert it!

I hope that helps! :)

there's tons of ready made brushes that will do that. Look up grunge brushes on Google. I have a lot of em.

I agree with Burnt_Raven. Go Filter>BrushStrokes>Angled Strokes and then choose Graphic Pen. That will give you the effect you're after I think.
