Icon maker, anyone got a good one?

Just use Photoshop/ImageReady even if you have to go out of you way to save as .ico, it's well worth the professional look. But I think you can save images as .ico in ImageReady CS2.

Here is a little tip on making *.ico files in MS Paint. It's easy actually .

1.) The picture has to be 32x32 pixels or smaller.
2.) Save as 16 Color Bitmap.
3.) Rename the file into an *.ico (After saving)

It works for me.

Favicon Generator is a nice one.

There are freewares available on the web that can aid you making icon. You can also do it with photoshop.

For Icons, I use the Microangelo Toolset. First layout in Photoshop, then save it as a .png to preserve transparency. I use .png because .gif throws away a lot of color information. Import it into Microangelo.
