I need an icon maker, or a plugin for photoshop that will let me make icons, i found 2 seemingly good and appaerntly free programs but one of them did not work and the other was not free, i also found a photoshop plugin but it corrupted photoshop and i had to re-install photoshop.

someone must know of a good icon making program. Also it will be great if it allows you to import other graphics then convert into icons.

thanks for reading

note: this may be an icon for a program and or a favicon

This photoshop addon worked perfectly for me when i installed it to Photoshop 7 a few months ago. I am not sure which version you have and i havn't tried it with CS2 yet.

Download it and read the instructions, once that is done you should be able to create Icons.

In Adobe Photoshop 7.0 you cannot save a file as an .ico file unless you have got the plugin that i linked above installed.

I would normally just save the file as a gif image in photoshop (I use CS2) and then open the file with paint and save it with the .ico file extension I normally dont lose any image quality

Yes, but if you have a facility that allows you to save the files as a .ico file in Photoshop then why not use it? Save yourself a bit of time at the end of the day and you won't lose quality.

I've used axialis. I liked it a ton...but it's only a 30-day trial, and my trail is up.

ArtIcons Pro is also a 30-day. Anybody have one that's totally freeware and accomodates transparent icons?

BTW...the IconArt above has a fishy looking link to me...
