is there any secret to this? for the life of me, any image i create seems to be doomed to be huge, even with save to web in photoshop 7, i pick the lowest possible level and it's still huge

am i maybe doing something wrong? what do you suggest? i'm willing to try just about anything. i've downloaded several supposed "programs", but they don't do anything i haven't tried already in photoshop

What kind of pixel dimensions are we talking about? If you could cite a few examples, or even post an image, it would help people to see if there's anything else to suggest.

Well, technically, if you're losing quality, you're not optimizing it.

Some images you can only take so far before you have to compromise quality for reduced sizes.
