Ok, I painted this - but ended up liking my pencil drawing much better than the colored one. If you want to see the colored one, go here:

www.jesusweptart.blogspot.com

It is a christian site, but I think you can enjoy the sites and sounds...even if you are pagan.

I made this with pencil, blending stump, and B&W digital painting. You like? Does anybody else have some?

You know, for being Jesus, that guy's sure got some pointy Devil-like features.

Excellent work though. :D
Strong with this one, the sudo is.

Not sure I ever want to see the painted version. That pencil sketch is excellent. Superb work.

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him."

That is the quote that you refer to. Indeed, the indication is that he did not have...movie star looks. But it does not speak of him being ugly. He looked like a regular Jewish guy. Yet, we do depict him as good looking - I guess out of reverence. Also, we do that for artistic reasons. When you paint a flower, you paint a pretty one...

HOw long did it take? I do not know. I do this as a hobby. So, a little here, a little there. Lets just say it takes a long time. :D

I've always been a fan of charcoal and pencil drawings. Your grayscale pencil version did more justice to the image than the colored one. What kind of medium did you use for the colored version?

Horseman, you need to stop doing this as just a hobby...I really enjoyed both versions, but definitely liked the black and white drawing better...it projects much more powerfully...hands are one of the most difficult things to draw and your attention to detail is amazing!

Thank you for sharing...hope there's more to come!

I found one fault with it. Or I think I do. Every time I cried the tears came out to the side of the eyes that is nearest to the nose. That is where the tear duct is.

No, no portfolio. But here is a sample of some more of my art and a link to more - it is a work of sequential art called "Tempt the Messiah":
