Currently I use Paint :) to make my logos, but I want to use some logo designing program to help me with it. Can someone direct me to some software that would do such a thing? Thank you.

It should be a vector based program.

That way, the logos will be able to scale for various applications.

Most good programs cost quite a bit though.

A friend had mentioned instalogo was good (instalogo.com), you might check it out.

But if you search for 'logo creator' or 'logo tool' at google I'm sure you'll find many more...

Cheers!

Although I have illustrator I tend to use Freehand MX more often. It's a powerful vector based program and a lot cheaper than illustrator.

I'll have to agree about learing Photoshop before using Illustrator.. Gotta have some basics on designing first and also know the basics on how Adobe graphics software works.. :)

Two others that weren't mention yet are GIMP and CorelDraw. GIMP is free.

For some reason I don't like corel draw very much ... I usually use photoshop, then I make an A4 or Letter(US) 300dpi logo ... Because it never tends to go much larger than that, but I like freehand for Vector, never used illustrator though ... is it good?

I once used a trial version PaintPro 5.0 (I think) (Like MS Paint with a few new features).

I used CoralDraw at school before (I liked the software) but it costs way too much (at least for me ), right now I have nothing in my pocket.

Quote:
A logo is the image which represents a company or its product. It's function is to create a memorable, recognizable impression on the mind of a potential client or customer. A logo is essentially at the heart of a corporate identity.
So what makes a "good" logo? Most people would answer "I just know it when I see it!" and this isn't so far from the truth. A good logo catches the eye - it makes the observer curious or engaged, if only for a short moment. A moment in which an image and the existence of your company is embedded in the mind rather than filtered out with a million other daily stimuli. But even if a good logo 'just is', there are elements for making it happen and we will look at some of those.

You can take a look at - http://vector-art.blogspot.com/search/label/Logo%20Design for more info

Wow, I totally forgot what a logo is. No seriously, I forgot that it was supposed to represent the company or its product. I'm sure a logo has to represent the site if the site isn't commercial and doesn't have any products (of it's own, you know what I mean).

Thanks a lot sanitarium for reminding me on the defenition of a "logo". That was helpful.

The blog site was helpful as well. Thanks.
