This tennis match was started in private and is almost complete, but we
decided to share and see what everyone else thinks. Pretty straight
forward tennis match, as we exchanged jpgs and incorporated the
previous volley in our own image. However...

The significance of this battle was to challenge oursleves to coming up
with new ideas quickly, and then being able to accomplish them in a
short amount of time. Each round was given a 30 min time limit, and we
did the first 4 volleys back-to-back-to-back. The 3rd volley we did a
couple days later under the same rules, and the 4th/final round is still
pending.

Here's the gallery of the battle:

Loved em all. Number 6 stands out to me.

Nice work guys and the tennis match is a very cool idea.

//...or maybe number 5 is my favorite. I can't decide.

thx dM. what I love about these sort of things is the number of good
images that get created, that for some reason outside the format of a
match, would never get created. The 30 min time limit was just
somethign we thought up initially to get the whole thing done quickly.
However, it turned out to be a significant affector to the outcome.

I can't decide a favorite either. ;)

thatkid - yep, each image was done in 30 min or less.

I like them all, but a bit confused as to the process. This might be a cool thing to have going in the competition forum...just a bit of a grey area there.

the basics for this type of photoshop battle are simple.

One person creates their piece from an image, and then passes it on to
the other person. That person has to use that image somewhere or
somehow in his own. This continues until the match is over, usually set in
the rules when it starts.

As for the rules, they can be anything. Most of the time I particpate in
battles/tennis where the rules are something like:

rounds: 4 volleys each (8 total rounds)
    theme: none
    apps: photoshop only
    image: jpg exchange (psd exchange)
image size: determined on 1st volley
notes: include the round# in each piece, simply for reference and another way to add creativity.

make more sense now?

Yea it does, I'm liking this. I am really going to need to digest each of your images to find the other image in it.

Are you allowed to erase parts of the previous image, or do you have to use the whole previous volley?

you only have to use what you want from the previous. It can be the
entire image, or just part of it. Depends on what you need from it for
your own. ;)

Thats really nifty. Cool idea, Ive never even heard of it. I liked image #7 personally. Pretty cool stuff. Its a neat competition, and even cooler is all the original images that come out of it.
