Personally I'm REALLY starting to like Maya...

Can you actually model in Bryce? All the scenes I ever see rendered in Bryce are just basic spheres, torus, cubes, stars, etc. No actual custom objects (people, vehicles, etc.)

Btw, if you don't have 7 grand spare to buy the "Unlimited" version of Maya, they do have a free version for you to play around with. Maya 5.0 PLE (Personal Learning Edition). You can't render with it, but you get a good idea how to use the program, and there is a plugin for it to export models & animations to Unreal Tournament 2004.

For both Maya and 3DSMax though, I highly recommend http://www.3dbuzz.com

It's an absolutely great site, they have video tutorials you can download, great 3D forum.. real nice site.

you guys should really look at 3ds max though, It is difficult to learn but there is so much functionality out of it. Yeah and plus you can model.

I mean damn, if price is the problem, I see it on ebay all the time...costing less that bryce.

Yeah, Max is nice... but still, Maya's better ;)

Maya was used for most of the work in the matrix movies.

Nope, not yet... I've not even figured out how to bone my models properly yet, hehe.

It's a LOT of learning to do :)
