N80, N90s or F100 :)

But bear in mind that the body is going to be the least of your expenses. When I bought my N90s it was a $600 used body (and it's still $800 to buy one new from Ritz), when I got my D100, it was $1500 new (and still is), I've spent much more than the combined $2100 on lenses, tripod, filters, film & development, compactflashes, etc.

I bought my Minolta 700 si quite a few years ago so I am not sure what the body cost is now....but I do love that camera...
again...the real cost comes with the accessories..lenses, flash etc..which can bring you up to around a couple of thousand dollars..
You might want to inquire at the photo store about cameras in your price range and pick up some brochures on them and then research on the 'net' ta see which one you think would be best for you...
sorry couldn't be more helpful...

That should be a good versatile lens for a lot of situations. What's your next lens going to be.

Well, the 28 end of your lens will give you a fair wide angle, but I think you're going to dissapointed with the 100 end for a zoom, so I'd think your next move would be a zoom that goes to 200 or 300.

Otherwise, depending on the aperture of your 28-100, you might want a prime lens (50mm) that has a very low f-stop (small number - big aperture) for lower light conditions. A lens like that might also offer some more detail and sharpness in your photos.

Ahhh! I think you're going to like that much more than the 28-100 for shooting anything where you can't get right up in the action.

Just remember...using a 300mm lens...(hand held) can have some disappointing results..ie: blur..
also, I don't know if bestbuy handles 'sigma' lenses...n although some people don't like em..I have had nothing but great results with em...
I use my sigma 70mm-210mm f2.8 more than any a my minolta lenses,
although I bought that quite a few years ago...at aroun 600.00 new..
Also...think about gettin a good tripod...Slik makes some pretty good ones..
