online image editing

hi everybody,
i'm trying to find the best way to make an online application for image editing. i still can't make a decision within making it a serverside or a clientside application. and if it is a serverside one then what is the best to use for speed, quality,... is it Imagemagick or GD Library.
does anyone knows what's the most efficient way to do this? is it server or client side
