I'm not sure wither or not this belongs here or in the digital art section but I was wondering if I could get some help breaking down the Photo shop stuff going on in this Weird Al cover. I noticed the black gradient around the outside edge and at first I thought it might be a HDR but the more I look at it the more I am not sure. I really like the textures and the contrast of the image.

Thanks

By looking at it it looks like a mask has been put over it and feathered a bit. Not 100% sure though.

Yeah, I also think that there is some lomography going on.

In my opinion is that is was first smart-sharpened just a little bit to give that nice contrast and then a solid black layer was put over using "soft light" as the layer setting instead of "normal" ... (that's how I would've done it anyway)

Or a black and white layer of the original image was put on top of it and given "soft-light" blending mode
