PhotoShop Tutorial: Cool Wallpaper

Start a new document, set the size to your screen resolution and fill the background black.
go to filter > render > lens flare and set the brightness to 115% and lens type to 50 - 300mm zoom.
now go to filter > distort > twirl and angle to 570.
press CTRL+U for hue/saturation and set that to a color you like.
for this example i use a red so i set;
Hue:0
Saturation:85
Lightness:+10

On a new layer draw a black line from left to right about 20 pixels wide and set the blend mode to colour dodge.
now open up the layer styles on this layer and set the bevel and emboss like below.

Now add some text like your name or company name.
i found with this colour background black with a default bevel and emboss looks good aswell as defult gradent overlay in the layer styles.

simple stuff..looks good DQ, erm...you could have smooth-antialised the text where it says 'DQNET'

I didn't try it because I use The GIMP, but I was wondering what it'd look like with the spherize filter and an inward sphere setting. I can't recall if there is a pinch filter but thatm ight look cool aswell...
