Have you seen those posters or advertisements where standing far away you saw and image of something, but up close you realize it is a creation of thousands of smaller pictures?

I want to get going on one, but I'd be curious to know what kind of strategys you all would use to complete it. My thought is to start with the image I want, overlay a grid so it will be much simpler to figure out what small picture to put in each square of the grid. Obviously, the small picture's main colors would have to match the design of that grid closely. Then, depending on the shade, color, or position of each picture, I would use the tool that adds a little bit of transparency to the pictures on top so that enough of the image that you will see is actually part of the orignal image.

Thats my plan, any others?

I know there is a program that does this somewhere, but your way sounds great and I would recommend doing it by hand even if it does take longer then a program, simply because it'd make you get that warm fuzzy feeling inside when you finished :-P
