Really, I am a personal fan of photoshop but I have fireworks as well.. If you have the time than I would learn both and decide for yourself which fits you and has the set up you need. Also, knowing both programs is better than a good thing.. It's a GREAT thing..

i suppose you could mix the effects from one to another to get some cool graphics ;), i might give it a go :D
