Well, I've been thinking about getting one of these types of devices for a while, and finally took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and picked up a 40Gig Super DigiBin 2. After having a couple of weeks to play with it, I went ahead and wrote a review for the Photosapien website.

A few people on here have asked me about such devices in the past, so I thought I'd post the URL so you could have a good read if you were interested :)

Nope, still images. On a 512Meg CompactFlash card, I only get 51 photos. The images are about 10Megs each. If you're away for a weekend, or on a long shoot, you could easily use up several gigs of space.

I was away for a week and I used around 3 gig, but I was shooting JPEGs which only fit about 150 to a 512 card, so it would've been more otherwise.

40 gig is a lot though... 4080 NEF Raws

yup, on a D100 it's about 4,000 or so.. on the D70 with its hardware-compressed NEFs, you'd probably get 6,000-8,000 images on it.

How big are your compressed NEFs in filesize from the D70? They're only around 4-6Meg each on the D100 (but it just takes so damn long).
