here is my newest work that I did in max....it is an old fashioned record player. I didn't get the speaker exactly how I wanted it, but I think overall it looks pretty good

no I like the shape of it perfectly, its the material. I think it should be more shinier, looks kinda cartoony compared to the rest of the image

The shape and everything is fine. The materials like you said completely suck. The speakers material should be much more reflective.

I also think you should put this thing on a white background and add some more lights for better lighting effects.

It would also be nicer if you put some bump mapping onto the actual record and the wood surface. Then you shall have a winner.

Im just wondering but how long did it take you?

I think if I add more layers (something I am not familiar with yet) to the material, it would give a more crisp brass like texture to it.

here is a revision, with some bump mapping as 5-0 suggested, and a few extra lights. I know a lot of people think it is too dark, but that is kind of what I am after here

thumbs up dude. It looks so much better now. I would prefer to see it on a white background but it is still cool. That brass looks good but now there is little or no reflection, keep up the good work. :P

thanks you all.

5-0 yes, there isn't a whole lot of reflection on it, because there is nothing really to reflect. Looking back I should have had it reflect some sort of map. I may adjust it in the future, as well as add some stuff for the background. I will just mark this piece as unfinished, and post it back whenever I am done.

again thank you for the comments

Remon, please make your signature comply with the rules. It has a filesize that is about 8fold to large.
