Here is something I have been working on, I would like some honest critiques. I am shooting for realism.
I used final render. I am trying to make the glass around the liquid look more defined so it will be more apparent.

Oh, WOW!

That is amazing! It does look very real and crisp.

Which program did you use to do this?

did you add a bumpmap to the sand? it looks kinda smooth, possibly a tad stretched too in places.

yea I added a bumpmap, but that is just a texture. I was noticing that too today, about the smoothness. Perhaps it would help to add some sort of surface scatter or noise modifier. I know what your saying about the stretching, Im going to learn how to use UVW mapping, supposedly this will solve the problem of stretching textures over irregular surfaces. Also what I noticed is if you look at the large image you will notice that the liquid inside is reflecting some of the sand, and it is grossly pixalated. So few more things I have to fix...guess I wasn't as finished as I thought.

Thanks for the comments guys, Ill post a refined image whenever I complete it.

Yep UVW mapping is the way to go. Planar mapping almost never seems to get it just right. You oughta be okay by adjusting the sizing on your reflection mapping for the sand.

Very nice. One suggestion, I'd push the bottle in deeper into the sand. It kinda looks unnatural right now. As it's clear that a bottle wouldn't stand up so well with so little of it within the sand.
