I have a good idea in my head for a website. The problem is, I don't know how to get it out of my brian...

I want to have a "parchment" and or crumpled paper look. bg is like #999999 or some kind of dark grey. Then Paper, or Parchment on top as the main part with kind-of a drop shadow thing... If I can get that far, I can handle the rest. This is really a graphics question, I guess.

Photoshop. Thats all I can really say to help you on that. But first I would draw it out. If your not good with comuter hand drawing I would scan your sketch and then go from there.

This is very simple. I do have one question though, do you want it torn on the edges?

Yes, use photoshop. You can save for web, and import the image directly for website design use. Very easy and user friendly. Good luck.

Nah, dont draw it. Crumple up a piece of paper, then scan it. :) Then use PS.

ok, this is the general "idea" but in reality, far from it...

Image

Its WAY too jaged.
Needs to be more "Thatchy" like sac cloth, but not... (did I lose you there?)
The tear needs to be so soft that you can kind-of round the corners on top...

I used this tut: http://fotofects.com/articles/437/5/Torn-Paper

Those are both almost what I want. Not so Grungy... No torn edges, just a nice smooth tear. If you could get me a psd of one of those (I'll try out my own) I'd appreciate it...

You might also like to consider purchasing something from iStockPhoto as a starting point.

Here is pretty much what I'm think of... It's pretty grungy yet. text on this will not look too good. I also need some kind of thing below the header/logo/text title to seperate it from the rest of the page. Mabe something like at http://regularworld.com/

Navigation will likley be tied in below the logo.

I hope this is what you are after.
You can set the body bg of the page to display this image then put a table over the top for layout. or a layer, or just go strait over the top with text the choice is yours[/img]
