This artist's work is amazing. But what is this type of art called, does it have a name. And if so, how can I start to learn such techniques. Thanks in advance.

It's because the page is restricted to members. You have to register an account there. Actually looks like it might be an interesting site. http://www.worth1000.com/

sishomarue, in case anyone has interest in signing up there and checking out what you're asking, what's the name of the artist you are referring to?

Click your address bar and hit enter. There's a referer block on the image.

I don't know who it is or how they do it, but if I had to guess I would think it stared as a photograph with some artistic touches applied.

Almost looks like a photo converted to line art and then colored.

You two have single handedly encouraged me to sign up even though i probably wouldn't have bothered if there weren't "oh it's so cool" sort of comments.

Grr.

I'm not so sure about the photo conversion to line and art, it's more like it's been made from scratch. It's too smooth for a conversion. In saying that you could well be right.

OMG I just saw how this is done! It can definitely be done by line art and digital coloring/painting. I'm just blown away. This is definitely too far beyond my skills.

Some people are just too damn good at what they do!
(trust me, worth the time to watch both of these)

If I had only seen the finished product, I'd tell you there's NO way the artist could have done that from scratch.

That is seriously impressive.

Yeah, i've seen stuff like that before. He does one of Thom Yorke (lead singer of Radiohead) as well which is just amazing.

Quite a good version of "Street Spirit" playing in the background. The video for that song is just an art on it's own. Truly amazing!

Woah, a lot of replies. Oh, I thought everyone would be able to see it. (Referring to the blocked picture). Sorry.

For those who want to sign up, worth1000 is an amazing site.

the user is "meowza", from what I have seen and heard, he/she is like the best there is amoungst the members.

Thanks for the videos ATNO/TW and SB. I have seen those before and was guessing that was how it was created but i didnt know if there are anyothere ways. Because those speed painting videos use talent far, far above what myself can do.

But I am going to do more research into "line art colouring"

For what it's worth, those aren't done from scratch.
A photo is placed in the photo well of the tablet which they use to trace :)
Still an art form none-the-less, but it's not from scratch.
