Hello, I and another developer have been working on creating some GPL open-source software: (http://globetrotter.xenolth.biz). Eventually I'd like to port it in such a way so that a person using a free hosting provider like geocities could use the script. Currently it is written in PHP. Is it possib...

There are many versions of Macromedia Flash out there at various prices.
If I went with an older version of flash (ex v.8 instead of MX 2004) would I loose a lot of features?
I will be doing a lot of actionscript programming.

Any suggestions?

Well I don't know about Flash MX 2004, but in Flash MX you don't use Flash to directly connect to a database, you load the information from a PHP file... and the PHP file grabs the information.

Cool! That's even better since we already have PHP scripts accessing the MySQL database.

Thanks,

I have already read that and I saw that "Connecting to Data Sources" is a pro feature not a regular feature. Does that mean I can't connect to MySQL databases without Pro?

I see that Macromedia has two versions of flash available: standard and pro.

I will need to integrate flash with PHP and a mysql database. Will I need pro or can I just use standard.

What's the difference anyways (except $$)?

Thanks,

Great! About using a template for business use, you don't have to worry about that. I don't have the time to revamp my website right now and besides I don't have a business.

I love your templates, though!

A very nice improvement. Even I can't miss the preview button now! Although the preview button is very nicely placed, it doesn't seem to do anything. Am I missing something else? I clicked on an image and then on the preview button but nothing happened. Let me know what I missed and I would b...

The site is filled with lots of eye-candy! - The flash is very nicely done. Subtle and subdued, it doesn't make me go cross-eyed like some sites :) - Nice layout, easy to navigate Suggestions, Make the text larger or allow the user the resize the text. It is to small for comfort -- and make it a lit...

Very nice interface. - I love the bright, inviting colors - Very good content - The way the user can preview the templates is really nice! You are one of the few sites that I have seen that does that. Most other sites simply give a screen shot Suggestion, you need to get a faster web hosting provide...
