Thanks... I actually found some pretty good deals on old used laptops on eBay. A lot of them come with no software, but I could help him with that.
I haven't decided exactly how we'll go, but I'll be sure to look into local electronics stores, as well.
Thanks

I have a friend who needs a basic laptop -- by basic I mean that the most advanced technology he'll be using is wireless. Maybe launch MS Word every now and then. He can totally get by with running Windows 2000 (I know, he could get by with really cheap hardware if he ran Linux, but because he so no...

Some of you may remember the "Blue Frog" incident not too long ago. Blue Frog provided service which enabled you to easily report your spam to the authorities, as well as to the spammer's ISP and hosting provider. (helping to counteract spam instead of just filtering it) However, the spamm...

I'm trying to create a script (using JavsScript) that users can run to add an extra element to the page they're currently viewing. That is, the user wants a certain action performed on the web page they're currently viewing, so they run my script, and it pops up a floating div on the page to prompt ...

Well, I tried to. I plugged it into my machine, and Windows recognizes that I've inserted removable media, and it shows up as drive J. So, in Windows Explorer, I right-click drive J and click "Format..." and I get the message "Please insert a disk into drive J." I've got a feelin...

I was writing some data to my SD card when the program I was using locked up. So, I just killed the program and removed the card. Then, when I plugged the card into my Palm, it recognized that I had just inserted an SD card -- but it couldn't read anything from it. I then tried to access my SD card ...

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Let me be a bit more specific. I've got page where I need some links to always remain on the upper left corner browser window. Even when the user scrolls down, the links still need to remain in the upper left corner of the browser window. Is there a way that IE's CSS can...

My laptop has a problem where it can't suspend. I've done some research and found out that this is due to my Nvidia graphics card. From the research I've done, it seems that I could make a script that would if I unload the Nvidia drivers (or the Nvidia module) before suspending and reload them after...

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop... but it has to be compatable with Linux. The biggest thing I'm looking for it to make sure that suspend works on Linux (I use Mandrake 10.1) Does anyone know where I can find out information about which laptops are best with Linux (along with being all-around g...

I have a Palm Tungsten E. I'm wondering if anyone makes a wireless modem (or anything that allows me to connect to the Internet wirelessly). Does anyone know? I looked a little on Google and found a couple web browsers for my Tungsten, so I know that it is possible to access the Internet from it (we...

Welcome to the "What am I going to do with all these invites" club. I've been giving away invites, but it seems that the more I give away, the more Gmail gives me. I have a friend who keeps on inviting himself and between his 3 accounts he has something like 18 invites :shock: People like him need t...

b_en_f@yahoo.com and wwkdotkom@yahoo.com.au, since you both have Yahoo, your Gmail invite will probably be in your spam folder, since Yahoo clasifies Gmail invites as spam (yeah, so they think that spam is anything that competes with Yahoo
)
