Thanks... I actually found some pretty good deals on old used laptops on eBay. A lot of them come with no software, but I could help him with that.

I haven't decided exactly how we'll go, but I'll be sure to look into local electronics stores, as well.

My laptop has a problem where it can't suspend. I've done some research and found out that this is due to my Nvidia graphics card. From the research I've done, it seems that I could make a script that would if I unload the Nvidia drivers (or the Nvidia module) before suspending and reload them after...
