Hey all, I am quite STUPID...So keeping that in mind what whould the simplest install be for a first Gen iMac. I would like somthing that installs on the HD not just booting and running from CD. I tryed Yellow dog and the thing kept hanning half way through the install.

The small speaker icon in the tray near the clock, lower right corner, sometimes diapers on startup and then is sometimes there. Is there a way to bring it back if it is not there and a way to stop it from disappearing?

the second disk will not finish
Just as the disk is finishing it pops out - the index is not able to burn. -Using easy CD creator

Can I add a different interface to improve its look? After reading the posts here it seemed a good idea to install Slakware to learn a thing or two.
