Hi All,

I'm sure this topic has been addressed several times before but I honestly cannot figure out this stuff.I have visited numerous forums ,tried and tested stuff but nothing seems to work for me.(I'm a noob as you might have correctly deduced by now).

ok.. so what I need to do is load an external swf file containing buttons into a new .fla file.
A couple of weeks back I had managed to somehow load the swf but the buttons weren't working.
Now,i can't even seem to load the swf. uggh,,,

do you guys think you can help me on this?
I need to undersand what to do -- groundlevel up.
I would really appreciate it.

Thank you
:)

I think you are trying to load one external movie in to a primary movie.

Trying locking the root on the external movie first. What often occurs is the new movie references the root of the movie it is loading in to rather than it's own.

It like this.
--------------------
BaseMovie.swf
_root.myNumber = 1;

LoadedInMovie.swf
trace(_root.myNumber);

-------------------------
LoadedInMovie will trace the number '1'
Note I didn't add the load movie code as I figure you have that down.
if you add this.lockroot=true; to the LoadedInMovie.swf in the first frame.
Your trace will return 'undefined' indicating your movie does not have _root.myNumber set.

I think your buttons may be acting in the same manner.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
